UNSW Mosaic Program

On 9 August 2016, a class of IEC students participated in the Mosaic Forum Day held by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) as part of the Mosaic Mentoring Program. Mosaic Mentoring is a program developed and executed by UNSW student volunteers. It provides a workshop (Forum Day) for school students to explore a number of modern day issues. Mosaic facilitates the exploration of cultural and global issues.

Workshop activities are developed for school students to engage in discussions about modern day topics such as multiculturalism and migration, war and conflict, terrorism, climate change, gender, religion, and globalisation. It provides a safe environment for students to clarify and question what they ‘think’ they know. Students develop a major work to represent the assigned theme. This is achieved under the guidance of their teachers and school visits by Arc volunteers, in order to consolidate and express their own understanding of the issues discussed through any medium they prefer.
